An Orangevale Backyard Built Around a New Pool, Kids, and Pets

This Orangevale family had just finished building a new pool. The backyard around it still needed a surface that could handle kids, pets, and wet feet, and still look good enough to match a brand-new pool.
They found us on Google, read our reviews, and asked us out for an estimate.
What They Needed
- Safe for kids and pets. Soft underfoot, drains fast, and no mud tracked into the house or the pool.
- Comfortable in the heat. Turf next to a pool gets walked on barefoot all summer.
- Room to grow. The property has more yard beyond the pool area, and they wanted the option to tackle it in a later phase.
Two Options, One Clear Choice
At the estimate we laid out two turf options side by side. They chose the higher-end product: a more natural look up close and a better match for the finish level of the new pool. For infill, they went with a cooling infill made for barefoot areas and pets.
They used financing to do the pool surround all at once instead of piecemeal, and kept the rest of the yard as a future phase.
How We Ran the Job Site
Big backyard installs usually lose time to trips: hauling dirt to the dump, picking up base rock, running for supplies. We planned this one so the crew never had to leave. Base rock and decomposed granite were delivered straight to the property, and excavated soil stayed on site instead of being hauled away. Fewer trips means fewer delays and a shorter disruption for the family.
The install ran April 28 through May 6, led by our foreman Gerry with Abel, Javi, and Tavo, all in-house Total Turf employees.
